Alpha Biologics makes Chief Operating Officer appointment
Alpha Biologics continues its development with the appointment of Michelle Peake as Chief Operating Officer. The company, a contract manufacturer of mammalian cell proteins, is building a major new biomanufacturing facility on the Penang Biotech Park in Malaysia and previously acquired CTM Biotech, a bioprocess development company based in Cambridge, UK.
The position is Penang-based and involves the appointment as director to the Boards of both Alpha Malaysia and Alpha UK. Its main responsibilities include overseeing the construction of the new cGMP manufacturing facility and managing the ongoing development of UK operations. Michelle Peake says:
"I've been the organisation's Director of Manufacturing for the past five years, so I know it well and will hit the ground running. Our plan is to have bioprocess development services in the UK that ideally match our cGMP manufacturing capability in Malaysia, giving a seamless service to clients who need mammalian cell proteins - and that what we will deliver. It will be a challenging but rewarding job and I'm delighted that the Board has put their faith in my abilities'.
